All systems will collapse, sooner or later! Definitely “sooner” and “later” are relative terms, nevertheless, “collapsing” is the truth that we need to realize. System could be a business, environment, social, economic, technological, and political or a mix of all. To avoid the “collapse” in short term or at least postpone it to a later phase, different thinking approach must be adopted.

One of the reasons why organizations can not survive any crisis, is because they are operating in a reactive mode, where they react when an event happens. It is, definitely too late to react when crisis occurs as no time and space to rescue the organization with any kind of interventions. Still, there is a hope to help the organizations survive the crisis is by being proactive rather than reactive. All organizations must build their own capacity to be ready to fight the crisis when it occurs. Systems Thinking approach offers a holistic view about the dynamics of a system in order to identify the leverage intervention points which will help the organization survive longer and face the crisis.

Modeling technique such as Systems Thinking is considered as a methodology that takes into consideration, the delay and the feedback nature that exist in our reality. Accordingly, any policy design and decision-making methodology that neglect such features and nature will probably lead to high risk intervention and failure in the future.
